First thing I want to mention is the amazing camera shots. It really captured the essence of skate 3boarding. The angles were able to emphasis on the movements. Which made you feel as if you are the one skate boarding.

Throughout the movie we can see a conflict between a mother and daughter. The mother has a hard time accepting her daughter’s passion for skate boarding and this drifts them apart.

Throughout the movie, we can see nyc teenagers skateboarding, smoking marijuana and partying. Rebelling and searching for their own identity.

One of the themes of the movie is acceptance and lonliness. Camille first tries to be accepted by her father, then when she hits puberty, she tries to find acceptance from her mother. Then she looks into her passion for skate boarding and finds friendships and common interests amongst other girls.

A Conflicts arise between friends when one friend feels betrayed by the other. Which takes to another theme which is friendship codes.

At some point in the movie, the photographer is able to capture and focus only on the lower part of the body, the movements of the legs using skate boards and motions slow down.

At the end, she comes back to her mother who learned to accept her love for skate boarding and helps her to fix her relationship with her friends. I must say, the last shot of the girls skate boarding at the big street of New York City is amazing. Long shot and close ups.
